I had a number of people thank me for the introduction of the system, and tell me how much clarity it gave them for their own role to move forward with. It was really good.
- Gary Allen, CEO, Linfox Armaguard Group
Linfox Armaguard Group’s industry has been significantly disrupted in recent times as people use less cash. In delivering a strategic direction in response to the disruption, CEO Gary Allen soon realised he needed to update HR systems in order to roll out the new strategy and role expectations quickly and measure success.
A new strategic direction
Linfox Armaguard Group now uses PageUp’s Unified Talent Management solution. At a strategic level, the system allows Allen to quickly and easily access the data and people analytics he needs to make decisions and measure success. At a functional level, the system has allowed strategy to be rolled out to the front line in a streamlined way. “When we set our 2020 strategy, of which the introduction of HR systems formed part of the transformation, it gave transparency right from my role of the CEO, and permeated down through the organization the key requirements to be executed,” explains Allen.
“We used the system to capture requirements at the strategic level and cascade those requirements down through the whole organization. It was fantastic to see the employees understand the vision, understand the strategy, and then see the elements of the strategy inside their own performance management area of the system. That gave clarity and a real purpose to each of the individuals.”
Overcoming fear of change
“When you start on a transformation program, and you have a business a size of ours with as many employees as we have, any hint of change comes with some reservation out of the employee group,” says Allen. Although there was the usual initial fear of change, rolling out a new system, including a performance tool for everyone, actually delivered greater role clarity and purpose.
“It was enlightening for me to see a large amount of our employees be comfortable with the identification of parameters, those parameters sitting inside the system and the ability to really chunk down the different activities that were a key part of their role and be able to gauge their own performance against those key chunked-down parameters,” says Allen. “It really delivered an awareness to them about their own environment, and that made it easy for acceptance of the system. I had a number of people thank me for the introduction of the system, and tell me how much clarity it gave them for their own workspace and their own role to move forward with. It was really good.”
