About the Authors

Sylvia Vorhauser-Smith

 

Sylvia is Senior Vice President – Global Research at PageUp. With 25 years of experience as a senior talent management and human resources practitioner and consultant, her career has included corporate finance and HR roles at Citibank and Westpac. Sylvia was Founder and CEO of consulting firm Talent Edge, specialising in bespoke leadership development and talent management solutions.

Sylvia is an international speaker on applied neuroscience, talent management and human capital strategy. She is a featured contributor to Forbes Magazine, author of numerous white papers on talent management and co-author of the books “Talented South-East Asia” and “Talented Philippines”.

Sylvia holds a Bachelor of Business, Graduate Diploma of Psychology, and Master of Science in NeuroLeadership. Sylvia resides with her family in Sydney.

Karen Cariss

Karen is CEO and co-founder of the award- winning global talent management software provider, PageUp. A key driving force behind the company’s success, she sets its strategic direction as well as ensures synergies across all divisions. Karen has been lauded as one of the HR technology industry’s exceptional entrepreneurs, having raised $10M in growth equity for her company in 2012.

Karen’s extreme passion for the company is evident in her work and attitude, which has been publicly acknowledged by being listed as 28th on BRW’s Female Entrepreneurs in June 2006 and winning the Ernst and Young ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ for 2008 and the Victorian Telstra Women’s Business Award in 2009. Karen co-authored the books “Talented Southeast Asia” and “Talented Philippines”.

She is formally qualified with a Bachelor of Applied Science and Honors in Science. Born in Melbourne Australia, Karen now resides with her family in Singapore.
