Karen Cariss is one of the founders of PageUp. Today, Karen is a key driving force behind the success of PageUp, setting the strategic direction of the company as well as overseeing internal activities to ensure synergy of all divisions. Karen’s extreme passion for the company is evident in her work and attitude, which has been publicly acknowledged by being listed as 28th on BRW’s Top 50 Female Entrepreneurs in June 2006 and winning the Ernst and Young ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ for 2008 and the Victorian Telstra Womens Business Award in 2009.
Karen has also used her knowledge of business practices to assist the judging of the 2006 Telstra Business Awards and 2005 AIMIA iAwards.
Karen is formally qualified with a Bachelor of Applied Science and Honours in Science and is currently a member of Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).
Mark Rice, a seasoned professional with nearly 25 years of global finance, accounting, and operational experience in privately and publicly held organisations, joined PageUp as CFO/COO in November 2011. Over a nine year career with Dell, Mark gained valuable international experience as CFO for Dell markets in U.K., EMEA, Australia, and China. In these positions, Mark pioneered costing and pricing strategies, developed financial/operational reporting systems, unified regionally dispersed finance teams, and drove significant increases in both revenue and profitability.
Permanently relocating to Australia in 2007, Mark was CFO for an Australian-based hotel and resort company where he was actively involved in the successful disposal of a significant portfolio of properties.
Mark’s role at PageUp is to accelerate the company’s expansion and drive increased agility through effective financial strategies, optimization of resources and operational excellence.
Mark holds a BSc Honors degree in Civil Engineering from University of Surrey in Guilford, U.K. and earned his status as a chartered accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales during a seven year career with Arthur Andersen.
Dominic Toledo, a seasoned technology sales and international management professional, joined PageUp in May, 2011. Dominic leverages his more than 15 years of sales and senior management experience to oversee the execution of the PageUp global sales and marketing strategy, including post-sales customer service and support.
Dominic has significant experience in the HR and Technology industries, having held senior positions at IBM, Korn/Ferry and other international businesses in Australia, the U.S. and Asia Pacific.
Dominic gained extensive international experience throughout his career at IBM, where he was responsible for the development of sales and marketing strategy and IT product offerings for the Asia Pacific region. More recently at Korn/Ferry Futurestep, Dominic led the Technology practice with overall responsibility for the growth and retention of the Asia Pacific client base delivering integrated human capital solutions to the Technology sector. Prior to that, Dominic served as a Country General Manager for the world’s largest provider of non-monetary reward systems, with overall management, financial and operational responsibility for country operations.
Fluent in English, German and Spanish, Dominic holds an Executive MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management. Earlier in his career, he was a recipient of IBM’s prestigious Global “Speed, Simplicity & Customer Satisfaction” Award in addition to being a qualified Six Sigma Black Belt.
Deborah Mason joined PageUp in 2003. In 2007, she was appointed General Manager Client Services, with responsibility for delivering global projects and services, and the strategic relationship management of the existing client base. In 2009, she held the position of Regional CEO with primary responsibility for the APAC region before being appointed to the position of Senior Vice President Global Talent in 2011.
Deborah is currently responsible for PageUp’s global people strategy, including acquiring, developing, growing and retaining the company’s global team.
With 13 years of experience at PageUp, Deborah has generated a strong knowledge of integrated talent management solutions, operational and people practices, and the formation of strong client relationships.
Prior to joining PageUp, Deborah accumulated 15 years of experience across several industries, including five years in key strategic account management with Sirius Telecommunications, a telecommunications facilities management and outsourcing company. Ms Mason also held several operational positions with award winning architectural and design firms, and a position with a small Melbourne-based accountancy firm.
Deborah holds a Bachelor of Business with a major in Business Administration from RMIT University and membership with the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is also certified with coaching accreditations from IECL, Gallup and the Wiseman group.
Sylvia is responsible for driving thought leadership in the field of human capital management for global organisations facing cross border expansion and growth. Sylvia has more than 25 years of experience in corporate and entrepreneurial business environments, including positions as Head of Selection and Development at Westpac Banking Corporation, Human Resources Manager for Citibank Limited, and General Manager of Integrated Talent Management for PageUp.
Prior to joining PageUp, Vorhauser-Smith was Founder and Chief Executive Officer of consulting firm Talent Edge, specialising in bespoke leadership development and talent management solutions.
She is a regular national and international speaker on neuroscience, talent and human capital management, having addressed audiences in Boston, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and across Australia. Vorhauser-Smith holds a Bachelor of Business and Graduate Diploma of Psychology from Monash University, and she is currently completing her Master of Science in NeuroLeadership at Middlesex University.
Trish Thomson is responsible for all aspects of global marketing, including reputation management, solutions marketing, field marketing, brand thought leadership and pipeline generation through to digital, mobile and social media.
Prior to joining PageUp she headed up the Customer & Partner Experience team for Microsoft in Asia where she was responsible for the overall customer & partner journey across its full range of products & services, based out of Singapore
Trish previously worked as Chief Marketing Officer for a company supplying technology to the education sector, developing their branding and product portfolio with a focus on internationalising the company. She joined the education company after a stint as CEO of a Paris-based music editing software start-up.
She has also been Head of Marketing for Cisco’s emerging markets, where she was responsible for developing and managing Cisco’s marketing strategy and programs across Russia, the Confederation of Independent States; Central and Eastern Europe; Middle East and Africa; and Latin America. Before Cisco, Trish was at Intel for 14 years in a variety of Sales & Marketing roles across EMEA, Asia, and the Americas. In her last role she spent 3 years as Head of Intel Asia Marketing based in Hong Kong.
Her various roles have led Trish to live in the UK, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, the US, Hong Kong and Singapore, and her travels have taken her to nearly 85 countries so far.
