.jobs allows your http://web.archive.org/web/20060819110943/http://www.companyname.jobs/ to act and be seen 'as a homepage' by the major search engines. When this website is seen, it is indexed. All of the benefits of internet search are then at your finger tips!
Most organisations' jobs or careers page have evolved to become embedded somewhere behind the company's home page, making it difficult for search engines to find, index and then rank. This way, you are invisible to job seekers when searching search engines.
What is .jobs?
Brand new domain name for the Internet, like .com or .edu, .jobs works by placing your company name directly before the .dot for example, http://web.archive.org/web/20060819110943/http://www.pageup.jobs/
Why .jobs?
.jobs provides applicants with a chance to identify opportunities and access information about your organisation's culture, job postings and benefits. There is no need to configure your new .jobs domain name - it will simply direct people to your existing jobs or careers page.
.jobs
.jobs has been specifically designed for HR professionals to communicate their organisation's employment opportunities and other Human Resource elements.
It is simply formatted as http://web.archive.org/web/20060819110943/http://www.companyname.jobs/ for example, http://web.archive.org/web/20060819110943/http://www.pageup.jobs/. You can simplify your employment advertising by directing all job seekers to .jobs.
Recently the .jobs domain name was utilized in the Hurricane Katrina employment relief effort. CareerBuilder created a job board entitled http://web.archive.org/web/20060819110943/http://www.katrina.jobs/ . This specially designed job board gave an opportunity for both employers and employees to post vacancies, resumes and career profiles. Some of the other companies that have also utilised .jobs are starbucks (http://web.archive.org/web/20060819110943/http://www.starbucks.jobs/) and Microsoft (http://web.archive.org/web/20060819110943/http://www.microsoft.jobs/).
1. Simply select a web address that represents your company's legal or commonly known business name. For example, http://web.archive.org/web/20060819110943/http://www.pageup.jobs/
2. Select a registrar from which to produce your new .job web address. (A registrar is a third party reseller that?s authorised to sell internet domains.) A list of registrars that sell .jobs domain names is available at http://web.archive.org/web/20060819110943/http://www.employmedia.com/apply.html
3. Contact your IT department. They have the ability to configure your new .jobs web address so that it directs viewers to the correct information.
