Flight Centre Limited

Flight Centre is PageUp's featured client this month.

As Australia's Best Employer for the second year running, Flight Centre Ltd is usually recognised by the red and white colours of its retail travel outlets on every corner, however Flight Centre Ltd is more than just a single brand. With operations in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, the UK, South Africa and Hong Kong, Flight Centre Ltd consists of 19 different retail, corporate and wholesale travel divisions with a large global operational unit supporting them. Recognised as one of the fastest growing businesses of its kind in the world, Flight Centre Ltd is an international network of more than 1200 shops and businesses with a global workforce of over 6000 employees.

Flight Centre Ltd wished to build a careers site that was user friendly, easy to update & manage, and with the flexibility to meet changing organisational requirements. With such a high profile, and with most applicants for positions with Flight Centre Ltd being existing customers it was of a high priority to ensure their experience within the recruitment process was a pleasant one. Prior to implementing PageUp People, Flight Centre Ltd received the majority of its job applications in a number of ways - via mail, email and a form submitted from their website which arrived via email. The problem was that a large percentage of applications received from the website were poor in quality and time-consuming for recruiting staff who manually screened them.

'PageUp is making a real difference - allowing us to provide a positive experience for both our potential employees and for our recruiters.'

Joanne Gilbert, Marketing - Recruitment, Peopleworks, Flight Centre Limited

Flight Centre Ltd implemented PageUp People in April 2003 with some key objectives : namely to reduce unnecessary manual administration and to increase the number of qualified candidates. To achieve this, Flight Centre Ltd incorporated into the careers section of their website a custom application form (see box - form builder module) with carefully designed questions to assist recruiters with their initial screening process and ensure a higher quality of application. The system allows applications to be automatically filtered according to the questions answered as well as providing the opportunity for recruiters to utilise the system?s personalised communications. This ultimately improves the overall applicant experience where even the unsuccessful applicants comment about the quality of service received.

With the PageUp People application and candidate care process, Flight Centre Ltd can leverage off it's well known brand, Employer of Choice status and the high number of hits to the Flight Centre retail site, to build a talent pool of interested and qualified candidates. As this grows, Flight Centre Ltd will gain a competitive advantage through decreased advertising spend, faster time to hire and an improved quality of candidates. And with other PageUp initiatives soon to be released such as SMS apply and voice recognition applications, Flight Centre Ltd recruitment will be soaring!

Form Builder Module

PageUp People's Form Builder Module provides the ability to easily create job application forms that filter and rank candidates according to answers, saving recruiters the arduous task of sifting through resumes.

The easy to use form builder interface allows scoring, flagging and alerting to be attached to each question. You can automatically filter unsuitable applications or set an alert to email or SMS you when a hot candidate applies.

It even provides recruiters with the ability to search the database for appropriate candidates when new job opportunities arise. This can shorten the time to hire and reduce costs as it eliminates the need for advertising. Phone PageUp on 03 9602 3300 to find out more about the Form Builder Module.

PageUp's value ad - more than just technology

PageUp are continually introducing new ways to work with their customers, and improve their experience with PageUp technology. With the advent of advanced recruitment management systems such as PageUp People, recruiters and HR departments are stepping into new territory and this means re-assessing the recruitment process and utilising the technology to its fullest potential. According to Watson Wyatt Australia's e HR Survey 2003, ?Only 17% of organisations achieved 80% or more of their goals set prior HRMS implementation?. To ensure that PageUp's clients' objectives of implementing such systems are met, three months ago PageUp appointed HR Consultant, Fiona Moreton. This role was developed with two objectives in mind:

Firstly, to work with PageUp customers on specific projects, which require dedicated focus and resource. These projects are concentrated around reengineering recruitment processes and shaping PageUp technology to meet client customer challenges. Examples of these types of projects include:

Effective use of talent pools in the recruitment process

Do you have thousands of candidates in your recruitment pool but don?t know how to grade, manage or mine these? With the constant pressure for recruitment teams to minimise time to fill and reduce costs in the recruitment process using the talent pool more effectively is becoming a key agenda item for a number of Australian organisations. PageUp is working with their clients to achieve this.

Recruitment metrics and reporting

Having recently implemented an online technology solution how are you ensuring that your goals are being met? What is essential to report on both at a recruiter and management level?

Meeting Recruitment objectives

How do you ensure that you are meeting your key recruitment objectives' PageUp are working with new clients to ensure that the process and technology are in place and working in the correct way to achieve their recruitment objectives.

Maximising cost effective sourcing strategies through referrals and Alumni

PageUp are working with their clients to maximise the use of low cost sourcing strategies. Both Alumni and referrals are a great high quality, low cost method of sourcing candidates.

Secondly, to ensure that PageUp are remaining a leading technology provider in the market place and creating innovative online solutions, through feedback from seminars, customer focus groups and industry forums.

PageUp does more than just deliver technology, making sure that the service doesn?t stop when the system goes live but adding value so that clients achieve their goals and are always 100% satisfied with service and product.
