Welcome to 2004! It seems to be racing along at top speed with a month gone already. With the New Year comes many new PageUp initiatives - new products, new technology and new client focused projects. We look forward to sharing these with you in the coming months.
Amber Creswell, CRM December 2003, a time when most companies are winding down activities and planning Christmas parties, heralded my involvement in PageUp's biggest global implementation to date - for BHP Billiton and BMA. After the untimely demise of BHP Billiton's previous career site host Monster, they were faced with a deadline cut-off date of December 19th, 2003.
And so begun the implementation of a new PageUp solution in it's place, and a rigorous global training regimen aimed at having users in all BHP Billiton locations worldwide up-to-date on the functionality of the new system by this set-in-concrete deadline!
Training involved face-to-face user sessions in locations as diverse as Mackay, Adelaide, Perth and Houston, Texas! From Texas teleconference training was conducted with users in Chile, New Mexico, Canada, London, South Africa, Illawarra NSW, Tasmania, Singapore and The Hague.
That initially seemed a daunting task for this solo-trainer soon proved to be one of the most satisfying experiences of my work life to date. As a Monster employee in a previous incarnation, I was privy to what the users were familiar with, which proved beneficial in translating the 'old ways' into the 'new ways', and sensitivity to the somewhat unexpected change. What was most gratifying to see was the pure joy that customisation can bring! To be able to tailor the system to suit such a vast array of users in such disparate locations from within the one platform is really an amazing feat.
Though tiring, it really was a treat to be able to meet so many fantastic people, and to have that personal interaction with so many clients at once. I look forward to seeing the continued success of this implementation, and many more like it!

Pageup's new Web services are the best thing since sliced bread, according to the PageUp development team. Although it probably doesn't excite us non-IT people nearly as much, it does mean some significant improvements for our clients. Web services, in layman?s terms, allow different systems to talk to each other in real time without developers needing to be experts in other company's systems.
Software such as our online recruitment management system PageUp People, can enhance your business by integrating with strategic partners - such as online testing providers, payroll & HR systems, advertising companies and job boards etc.
Traditionally, integration was somewhat complex, requiring a large amount of work and consequently became costly. It also meant that rather than the data being transferred in real time, it was batch uploaded daily. With new Web services, the transfer of data is instantaneous, more reliable, and the work required to transfer it is minimal - companies just exchange a small document on how the systems talk to each other.
For PageUp Clients, the new Web services mean endless possibilities. For example, candidate data that is captured in PageUp People can go straight into a client's third party payroll system the moment they are hired meaning no repetitive administration. Posting a job to a major newspaper can be done as simply as ticking a check box in the PageUp People system, which instantaneously transfers the data to a print media placing company - no contact required. Integration with third party online testing providers means that companies can have candidates sit online tests as part of the recruitment process with the results being immediately recorded in PageUp People. These are just some examples of how Web services can be used. The ease of communication between systems will eventually have a huge impact on day-to-day activities, not just in business, but also in your every day life.
